SR Gunsmithing has moved in and is open in down town Crescent, Ia. They are located at 728 Old Lincoln Highway in Crescent, in the little strip mall right across the street from Denny’s Place.
Scott Rule, who is the owner, is a Vietnam Vet, he served in the Navy on board the aircraft carrier USS Midway as a welder. Afterwards he stayed in Calif. For 5 years before moving back to Iowa, and living in Honey Creek for 28 years before moving to Council Bluffs. He worked at Bethany Lutheran Home as maintenance manager for 26 years. Not long after he moved, he went to American Gun Institute and became a certified gunsmith. He has been working out of his basement since then with a full machine and wood shop there. Scott can do everything but the rifling on the barrel of a firearm. Among the many things that he can do is repairing or custom fitting rifle and shotgun stocks, restoring or repairing malfunctioning firearm actions, hot bluing, Parkerizing, and Durcoating. Taking in older or brand-new firearms, he can customize to the specific wants or needs of the customer, making for a more enjoyable shooting or hunting experience.
At the new location SR Gunsmithing plans to become your one stop firearms supply shop, for all the needs of all shooters, hunters and competition shooters. The store, which used to be a feed store and retail consignment shop, has been completely remodeled and currently Scott is filling it with the needs of the surrounding shooting community. In stock now he has a small assortment of holsters and targets, and a wide range of ammunition. He is planning to stock more fire arms as well as take orders for whatever you need including special orders. With the store closed on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and open from 1:00 pm till 6:00 pm the rest of the week and Saturday from 10:00 am to 6:00pm and Sunday from 11:00am to 4:00pm, Scott hopes to be available to all the firearms enthusiasts in the area.
